Editing has begun
I’ve heard it said many times that editing your manuscript can be the hardest part of making a book. I think I agree.
Writing a book is full of joy and satisfaction that you can’t get anywhere else. You get to create worlds, design characters, and make playful scenes come to life. You can have intense fights and heart breaking drama.
I wrote the first words to my book about 4 years ago. Then life got in the way. I did everything I could to protect my book from “life happening”. I stole moments during lunchtime, stayed up late outlining chapters, and even avoided social events to make it happen. (I think I just described most writers).
A year and a half ago I started sharing my book with my writing group, Utah Valley Legends. They loved it, hated it, tore it up in some places and gave it a golden trophy in other places. I received so much feedback that I realized I needed to put in some serious time to edit it. But then the bills started pouring in and I had to take a second job as a welder. It was tough work and I was put in charge, so that meant managing people and adjusting plans where needed. I have literally never cut so much metal in my whole life.
But now that’s over and I’m chopping away at my first book. It’s a crazy journey and if you’ve read this far, I hope you enjoy the journey. The plan is to post a first chapter sometime in the future so you can see what it’s like.
